Isle of Spring 春之岛

Isle of Spring is a collection of three playscapes; a temporary urban intervention designed for play, interaction and experience. Built within a mixed-use commercial development in Shanghai, China, the Big Mountain, Pixel Garden, and Illumination Forest are abstractions of distinct natural landscapes. An escape inviting people to explore and engage with their surroundings, to climb, to jump, to slide, to rest; to create an unexpected memorable moment.
Big Mountain
山间拾趣
The Big Mountain is designed to resemble the rolling hills of Xiaozhai Tiankeng, the “Heavenly Pit” of Chongqing, inviting visitors to explore its various valleys enclosed by its intersecting walls. Openings at the intersections act as thresholds between adjacent valleys. Built around an existing tree, the exterior is composed of various shades of green and the interior, blue, echoing the sky. The mountain is accented with yellow ladders and monkey bars inviting children to climb up, down and around the structure. The textured bumps on the ground resemble terrains for one to run, sit, and slide.
此组装置为访客呈现了各种不同类型的游戏空间。从外部来看，不同深浅的绿色组成了山体的主体部分，宛如从远处看到的群山，深浅不一。来到装置的中心，四周变成了象征天空的蓝色。围绕装置设有黄色梯子及单杠，满足孩子们上下攀爬探索的欲望。同时，地面的隆起物就好似山地的地形，不仅可以为访客提供小憩之地，更可作为滑梯供玩耍之用，是一处天然的休息娱乐之所。
Pixel Garden
像素花园
The Pixel Garden is an isometric pixel meadow, abstracted to vertical and horizontal linear bars. Reminiscent of a field of tulips, the coloured cubes resemble the blooming flowers of spring. It invites visitors to discover hidden passages within its maze by climbing over and under the structure.
创作灵感受到西方立体主义艺术的启发，将花园抽象成条状及立方体的组合，通过不同的色彩区块来表现春意盎然、欣欣向荣之景。访客可在像素化的花园迷宫内，不断摸索找寻道路，开启一段奇妙的花园之旅。
Illumination Forest
光影森林
Illumination Forest is a whimsical recreation of the willow trees that line the shore of West Lake in Hangzhou. The installation consists of six trees with luminescent branches that hang and sway with the wind in the thoroughfare. At night, branches respond to variations in ambient music offering a calm respite for visitors. The lake element circles the base of the trees transforming into an arch, a flight of steps, a slide and a bench.
垂柳依依，溪水潺潺，漫步其中便是一幅悠然自得之景。每当夜幕降临，便化身为光影剧场，跟随音乐的节拍，变化出不同的灯光效果，为这片森林添上一抹神秘色彩。林中流动的溪水更是被抽象成为可供访客休息的台阶、长凳，增加装置的社交属性，让访客充分体验穿行其中的乐趣。
